THE PHOENIX PRIMARY SCHOOL SAVINGS CLUB
Thursday, 6th February 2018
Dear Parents or Guardians,
This year, we are delighted to be taking part in the LifeSavers programme, helping our pupils learn about money and how to manage it wisely.
As part of LifeSavers, we are partnering with our local credit union, Central Liverpool credit union, to provide an in-school savings club for pupils. The savings club will provide real life, hands-on money experiences for your children to help them develop into financially confident young people. They will learn about saving and setting savings targets for things they want. The emphasis will not be on the amount they save but developing a positive savings habit. All amounts saved, no matter how small, will be welcomed.
Our savings club will be run by our own school volunteers and will run on: Friday lunchtimes, between 12:00 -1:00 in the school hall.
Initially, all pupils with 100% attendance during the autumn term, will be able to join the savings club and the school will deposit their £5 reward into their accounts. In addition, they will receive a Lifesavers Passbook and wallet when they join. If your child wishes to join the savings club, please fill in the attached application form and return it to school as soon as possible. The school will verify the identity of your child to the credit union.
We will be having a launch event for the savings club on Friday, 23rd March 2018. If your child would like to receive their passbook ready for the launch date, we need application forms in by Wednesday, 28th February 2018. Children can continue to join the savings club at any point throughout the school year.
There will be opportunities for parents and guardians to get involved in helping your child learn about money. We will send more details about this soon. And of course, all parents and guardians would be welcome to join the local credit union themselves if they wish. We hope lots of our children will want to take part in the savings club. If you have any questions, please do contact me.
Many thanks for your continued support,
Mrs S. Y. Irwin
