Phoenix Primary School has an active and supportive Governing Board.

Every school has a Governing Board with governors who work as a team. Governors are responsible to children, parents and the community for making sure the school provides good quality education.  

Governors also promote high standards of educational achievement. They do this together with the Headteacher, who is responsible for the day-to-day management of the school.

The Governing Body of Phoenix Primary School provides strategic leadership, ensures accountability, and oversees financial performance. It develops policies, monitors their implementation, and ensures compliance with statutory requirements. The Governing body supports and challenges the Headteacher, engages with stakeholders, promotes staff development, and ensures robust safeguarding and recruitment practices. Its overarching goal is to ensure the school provides a high-quality education in a safe and supportive environment.

Roles and Responsibilites

Our school Governing Body consists of:

• Parent Governors (Parents elected by Parents)

• Staff Governors (School Staff elected by School Staff)

• Local Authority Governor (Appointed by the Local Authority)

• Co-Opted Governors (Members of the community appointed by the Governing Body)

The Chair of Governors

The Chair of Governors leads the governing body, providing strategic direction, support, and challenge to the Headteacher. They ensure effective governance, oversee policy implementation, facilitate communication with stakeholders, and promote the safeguarding and welfare of pupils.
