Phoenix Primary School is an IQM Flagship School! 

We are delighted to share that, following our annual IQM Flagship Review in June 2026, Phoenix Primary School has successfully retained its Inclusion Quality Mark (IQM) Flagship Status for a fifth consecutive review. This national recognition celebrates our ongoing commitment to ensuring every child is known, valued and supported to flourish. 

The assessor described Phoenix as a welcoming, inclusive and vibrant school where inclusion is not simply an aspiration, but the foundation of the entire school community. Our strong relationships, caring culture and commitment to supporting children and families were highlighted as key strengths throughout the report. 

The review recognised the significant progress made during a year of leadership transition, praising the school's clear vision, strong teamwork and positive culture. Staff described a genuine sense of togetherness, while parents spoke warmly about the school's “family feel”, excellent communication and the outstanding support provided for children and families. 

The assessor highlighted several areas of excellent practice, including:

• A consistent, values-led approach to behaviour built around Ambition, Kindness, Responsibility and Resilience. 
• Outstanding support for pupils' mental health and wellbeing through THRIVE, Zones of Regulation, therapeutic spaces and targeted interventions. 
• Strong pupil leadership opportunities through groups such as the Values Team, OPAL leaders and sports captains. 
• Highly effective partnerships with parents, external agencies and other schools to support inclusion and achievement. 
• An inclusive curriculum that reflects the diversity of our community and ensures every child can succeed.

The report concludes that Phoenix Primary School continues to move "from strength to strength" and fully meets the standard required to maintain its IQM Flagship Status. The assessor recommended that the school retains its Flagship Status and continues to share its inclusive practice with others through the IQM network. 

Most importantly, this recognition reflects what makes Phoenix such a special place – a school community where every child can rise to the challenge and shine.
