We will be exploring and hearing these stories through sensory and continuous provision. We will retell these stories using puppets and role play and engage in writing tasks such as mark making, sequencing and writing CVC words.

Autumn 2

We All Say Boo! (Poetry) Goldilocks and the 3 bears and We're Going on a Bear Hunt.

For the last two weeks of the half term we will be reading lots of different Christmas and Winter stories, rhymes and poetry including 'Letters to Father Christmas' and the Navity story.

We will be exploring and hearing these stories through sensory and continuous provision as above. We will be learning vocabulary and focusing on key language through these texts, as well as developing our writing in line with our individual play plans.

Spring 1

This half-term our focus texts will be 'Handa's Surprise' and 'Giraffe's Can't Dance'.

We will also be expanding our vocabulary to do with animals and food, as well as focusing on using verbs and prepositions.

Spring 2

We will be writing speech bubbles and character descriptions before making up our own story monsters.

We will be continuing our exciting project based on Read, Write inc by Ruth Miskin. This is a structured program that aims to help all children make excellent progress in reading and writing. Your child will have a 1:1 phonics session in addition to daily tasks and lessons designed to develop their communication and language skills.

Our class phase 1 phonics focus this half term is rhythm and rhyme. Every week we will have a rhyme of the week. This will be sent home for you to sing with your child. Our class vocabulary focus is to continue using positional language (on, under, in etc). We will also develop our use and understanding of verbs, as well as naming and categorising different places and objects
