Phoenix Primary School ‘Where We Rise to the Challenge’
Class Text
Summer 1 - Home Learning during lockdown. This half term Using the text The Very Hungry Caterpillar, we will be working with our families to look at Life Cycles, sequencing and looking after living things. We will also look at maths, shape space and measure and physical development through the text Supertato.
Spring 2 - This half term we will be exploring Traditional Tales with a focus on the following books:
Spring 1 - The children will explore the text Lost and Found, they will follow the characters on their journey and have some adventures along the way..
Autumn 2 - We also looked at The Little Red Hen. We made our own bread, used role play to retell the story and had a go at writing our own.
Autumn 2
During our whole school initiative Sparkle and Spells week, the FS children will be looking at the text Funny Bones by Janet and Allan Ahlberg. We will look at rhyme, alliteration and in particular having a go at writing our own poems.
Autumn 1
As we start our journey in Foundation Stage this half term, we are looking at the text Elmer by David Mckee. We will be talking to the children about being different and special by looking at the rich array of colour and patterns the book provides. We will also look at concepts of print, how to care for and handle books and using the pictures to predict what might happen next.
