Phoenix Primary School ‘Where We Rise to the Challenge’

Helping at Home

Supporting your child at home will make a big difference to their progress and well-being in school. Here are a few ways that you can support:

1. Read and respond to the letters that we put in their bags, I know some days it feels like there's lots to take in but it's really helpful in order to keep track of what is happening in school.

2. Read with your child every day, it doesn't need to be a school reading book...... a bedtime story to share is an excellent way to finish the day.

3. Spend a few minutes each day talking with your child about what they have done at school. Praise the things they are proud of and help them to solve any problems that are worrying them.

4. Help them to learn any spellings, timestables or sounds that they might bring home, just ten minutes a day can make all the difference.

Phonics

KS1 have a daily phonics session that is also supported by extra games and practice during the week.
